Saeed AlMadani

Saeed Al Madani is an Emirati artist. He studied printmaking at the Royal College of Art in London, where he earned his Master’s degree.

Saeed’s practice draws on elements of conceptual, minimalist, scientific and abstract strategies, where he explores the relationship between language and place, and the process of writing and non-representational art in articulating attachments and in (de)constructing identities. Through his work he also questions how objects and performance combined allow for the construction of meaning, obsession and a sense of place.

Selected exhibitions include Thulathi: Threefold, Dubai Design Week, Dubai (2018); Nom, Guest Projects, London (2018); Portrait of a Nation, me Collectors Room, Berlin (2017); and Emirati Expressions, Manarat al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi (2015). His work is part of private and public collections such as Royal College of Art Print Collection, and ADMAF. He delivered artist talks internationally on topics concerning space, time and place, and is a founding member of Arab Art Salon.

In 2014, Saeed completed the Sheikha Salama Foundation and Rhode Island School of Design Emerging Artist Fellowship. He was the recipient of the Abraaj Innovation Scholarship award and the Salama Emerging Artist Scholarship. He is currently a resident in the 2019 edition of March Project, run by Sharjah Art Foundation.
