Zeinab Al Hashemi

Zeinab Al Hashemi (b. 1986) holds a BA in Arts and Science, from Zayed University, specialising in Multimedia Design.

She enjoys telling stories and describes her artistic process as a journey, where she plays the role of the dreamer chasing her mirage, to forge a connection between past and present. Working mainly in sculpture and site-specifc public installations, she experiments with new materials and techniques for each project. In her work, she seeks to maintain a tension between past and present, the history of the site of the work and the pioneering spirit of her ancestors.

In 2011 she exhibited in 40 Poems From the Desert and U.A.E. | A Work of Art 2011 at The Ara Gallery, Sikka Art Fair (2010, 2011, 2012, MinD Made in Dubai DUCTAC (2011), and participated in the Abu Dhabi Airport Center Project in 2011. Al Hashemi was also selected to work and collaborate with calligrapher Nja Mahdauoie to create an art piece for Noor Dubai charity auction at Christie’s Dubai (2012).
