Ammar Al Attar

Ammar Al Attar (b. 1981) holds a Masters in International Business from Dubai’s University of Wollongong, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology from Dubai’s Higher Colleges of Technology.

His practice of photographing everyday Emirati life, is born of his interest in the simple changes that occur locally, that nonetheless contribute to and reflect the overall changes taking place on a larger scale in the Emirates.

His work has been shown throughout the U.A.E., and in the Thessaloniki Museum in Greece. In 2013, he participated in the Sharjah Biennial and was selected for the Artist-in-Residence (A.i.R.) Dubai programme. His works have been acquired by many local and international institutions, and private collections, including Sharjah Art Foundation, Barjeel Art Foundation and Al Sawani Group in Saudi Arabia.

Al Attar is currently working on a research-based project where he is building an archive and database of photography history in the U.A.E. Al Attar also frequently leads photography workshops.
